"I expect nothing. I will blend into the background and be a cog of the well oiled machine that is a musical, just as I have most years since fourth grade." Repetition of using I. Repetition of a word.
"I remember when I was a sophomore, I was arguing with a senior friend of mine that seniority should not have a place in the casting process; that it should be 100% talent based." Imagery- showing or a picture you can get in your mind from a phrase or sentence.
"I know I’m not the best singer. I have no delusions of grandeur. I can carry a tune, but there is no way I could ever make it in a karaoke bar, let alone on Broadway. I know that I can’t dance. Again, I’m not this lady but the cotton eyed joe is about as good as it gets with me." Hyperbole- an exaggeration
I think this article shows a great amount of figurative language in it. It really helps and pops out all the imagery hyperbole's and repetition in the article. It shows how a young student may not think they are the best but then get casted in a role in the musical. It kind of reminds me of myself when I was in middle school. For the first two years I was an extra until 8th grade I became a lead. I can see all the figurative language that you get out of this piece which helps the piece come together in the end.
