Stephen leslie short story

I like the way the short story is laid out. But there are somethings I didn't really like.
"As the heat of the day increased….I took a few more swigs of the foul water and took a nap.   When I awoke I just laid on my sleeping bag and listened to the sound of the sand blowing.    When it was late afternoon it was time to make the trek into town and see what I could find." This part here I didnt think was relevant like it makes the story longer but it doesnt really speak to me. I also dont understand what he is or she is? Are they poor or are they like magical creature. I didnt really get that.  "Each house is different.  Some have the bleached bones of family pets still chained to the dog house." I like this part a lot because I can actually picture the dogs bone and feel the pain of the dog living outside. I think this part at the end of the story is so nice because I can see everything and I feel bad in a way but in a good way. "With the wind still…… there is a deep and pervading silence.   I can hear my ears ringing and the pulse beating in my head" I really like the story but I think there should be more details of why he is like that because it keeps me wondering. Overall it was a good story because I could picture a lot of things that the character was talking about and I could feel what they were feeling.

K= Eight people to emulate

1.  Kelly Clarkson- An amazing singer and the first person ever to win american idol. I have to give her props for the courage she has.

2. Kris Jenner- A very strong person who lost her ex husband to cancer and raised her 4 kids with her husband and is now famous for her business and her management for her daughters.

3.Alicia Keys- Is an inspiration to me because of her amazing voice and growing up with not a lot of money must have been really hard. I have to give her props for where she is today being an professional singer.

4.Beyonce Knowles- A very great person who grew up in poverty and now is a very wealthy woman. Who doesn't only keep her money for herself but gives back to many charities.

5.Karen- My family friend who is just a powerful single woman with 2 children.

6.Kim Kardashian- Smart young and talented.

7. Karmen- My grandma is such a powerful important person in my life. Loosing two children  in a horrifying way. She still is so strong and tries to help everyone she can.

8.Helen Keller- So young to be blind mute and deaf but became an inspiration for so many people in the world.

Poem:  http://www.marketplace.org/topics/life/poetry-project/poem-loss-economy

"Euro"The single European currency that was introduced into some of the state. This article is about how the Greek economy may be ruining the euro. The article states that Europe needs to keep Greece in the Euro. ""The European Commission has made it clear from the beginning that it is very important, not only for Greece but the euro and for the European project, to keep Greece in the euro," Greece feels to much pressure is on them. They also feel it is not fair and feel threatened."Greek union leaders condemned the proposed measures and said the country was the victim of extortion." This story reminds me of the poem "One Art" by Elizabeth Bishop.   This poem is about loosing something and loosing money. How important it is to have a economy and the feeling of badness when is all blamed on you. This relates to the article because Europe feels like they are losing Greece.
"I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,  some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn't a disaster"

Words are paper roses and magazines cover the sky

A day that changed lives
Words are paper roses and magazines cover the sky
the ashes of loved ones can not explain the pain
the heart of a city the world is changed
because of this terrifying terror that came and hit us that day
so many families hurt and heart broken
searching and searching for the people they love
hearts pounding with sadness when no phone calls are returned
I remember this day like it was yesterday
I remember my heart crying because of so much pain
I still go down their every time the date passes
I always go there for my aunt
I always go there on
September 11th the date that changed a nations
life

Comic Collection

Nancy by Guy Gilchrist and Brad Gilchrist

This comment relates to me in my life because my dad always says my dog cocoa always waits for me for when I am coming home. I like this cartoon because it makes me think of my dog cocoa and how he must feel when im not around. My dog sometimes waits for me in my bedroom. It also reminds me from when I was little when my mom would leave me with a babysitter I would feel so lonely and scared. That I would keep wishing she was there.  This comic is funny in my perspective because I can actually relate to it. My sister Lisa is also a very attached person to my dad so it also reminds me of her when my dad leaves. I feel in someway everything relates to peoples lives in some way. It could be a comic or teddy bear but everybody can relate to something.

"PEP TALK"

"Keep your chin up"
The pep talk keep your chin up relates to me in my everyday life.  I always think  when I'm in the hallways and someone gives me a dirty look to always keep walking and not let that bother you. I believe no one is better than no one. Everyone is equal and nobody should be able to bring you down.  My mother always said to me when I was younger never to let anyone bring you down and to always keep your head up. When I was younger I was not bullied but there was this one girl who did not like me and I would always come home and tell my mom. My mom would always say try to keep your head up and don't let her bring you down. So I learned from that. Now in high school girls are mean still but I don't let that get to me because everyone is special in there own way. I truly believe in this pep talk because at one point in my life it was the most important pep talk to me. Now I tell my little sisters that too because one day in life they might experience that type of mean syndrome from a girl or boy. So just keep your chin up.
